Initially, having familiarity with the models of Nikon's superior dual mode dial, I admit to be found a little 'embarrassed. Nikon indeed adopts a different control systems in the entry-level for D5000, delegating control of the basic shooting parameters (aperture and time) to a single ring, whose function can be alternated with the push of a button near the grip.
Obviously the lack of the second ring does not feel the least when shooting in automatic mode or in the popular mode A (Aperture Priority) and S (Speed Priority), which acts on only one parameter, but if shooting mode manual (M) the ergonomics of the higher-end machines like the D90 is probably better.
Not to worry, however, the layout of controls on the Nikon D5000 is designed with great care, all controls are easily accessible, just a few hours to familiarize yourself with the product.
Compared to the D60 and little has changed, so the feeling should be immediate for all customers accustomed to the old Nikon models.
The LCD even as a model to 230,000 points and not 920,000 as in the models, providing an image true to what you will then see a monitor, and is large enough to allow the user to perform an initial review of their work and detect defects of focus or exposure (micromosso and nuances better in any case rely on a generous size monitor).

For more extreme shots, however, the live view in conjunction with the new mobile storefront, brings us to another level than anything seen so far.
Here the D5000 displays muscles, playing his trump card, the ergonomics of using many different situations.
Macro photography, shooting from above, flush floor shots, shots from the easel into positions hitherto impossible, becomes a breeze thanks to the mobile screen.

The mobile screen is the true prince of the situation by doing this D5000 a step further than other models with a fixed screen with live view but much more difficult to control in case of extreme angles.
